Mbaka and Lufilo Bridges Almost Complete

The Government have spent an estimated US$ 25.4 million on the construction of the ne Mbaka and Lufilo bridges. The bridges will act as a link between the village of Kikusya and the Matema Road in the Kyela district.

Project Engineer, Samuel Joel recently provident an update on the construction, saying that, the project was 98 per cent completes. The tender  was awarded to China International Engineering Company Ltd by the Tanzania Road Agency (Tanroads). According to the initial agreement the construction was dated to finish in the calendar year of 2017.

 “I want this project to come to completion in October. This is because when the rainy season starts, construction work will be interrupted and this will cause complaints,” Regional Commissioner Amos Makall, was quoted saying.

The Tanzanian government has paid top dollar on the project and expect it to meet international standards.

However, District Council ExecutiveDirector, Juma Mgatta has expressed concerns about the project by relaying the challenges faced during construction. Including challenges such as residents refusing co-operate, causing constant difficulties during construction.
