Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) Tanzania announced that there will be massive importation of fuel to cater for the high demand for petroleum products during the forthcoming General Election.
Tanzania is organised to hold the General election on Wednesday 28 October, with campaigns set to stretch from August 26 up to October 27.

Kenya is set to build a $5 billion (Sh540 billion) nuclear power plant on a site in Tana River County over the next seven years with funding from private investors.
The Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board (KNEB) in a regulatory filing with the National Environment Management Authority (Nema) revealed that the plant with an initial capacity of 1,000 megawatt (Mw) plant would be constructed through a concessionaire.

The training was taken place by the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) in collaboration with the Vocational Educational and Training Authority (VETA) and International Oil Companies (IOC's) at a cost of US $ 4 million.
China Petroleum and Technology Development Co. (CPTDC) has won work to provide natural gas compressors to Orca Energy in southern Tanzania.
The Chinese company will design, supply, install and commission natural gas compressors within the Songas facility, on Songo Songo island. Orca said the new equipment would work with previously installed refrigeration to tackle declining reservoir pressure and maximise production.

The Kenyan government plans to initiate taking bids for the second and final cargo from the country's pilot crude export scheme in September.
The scheme which involved trucking oil from fields in the South Lokichar basin by road to the Indian Ocean port of Mombasa ended at the start of June, two years after it incorporated. Kenya exported its first ever crude cargo, a 240,000 bl shipment, in August last year as part of the pilot scheme.

South African construction and building materials retailer, Builders, is set to open its first store in Nairobi this month as it expands into the East African region.
The store, to be opened at the Waterfront Karen at the end of August, will bring the total number of Builders stores beyond South Africa to nine.

Ethiopia has unveiled a locally-assembled electric car from Marathon Motor, a joint venture between Korean auto giant Hyundai and Olympic champion Haile Gebrselassie.
Mr Haile delivered the vehicle to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

Isuzu East Africa has declared its return to the Tanzanian market after three years. In the event, it also disclosed its local distributor. The automotive assembler said in a statement that the return aimed at expanding its footprint in the region.

Kenya's national government is expected to begin reconstruction of the old / metre-gauge railway line from Nakuru to Kisumu this month through national railway cooperation (Kenya Railways Corporation).
