Foreign Affairs Minister Mr Palamagamba Kabudi declared that Tanzania’s Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project is going to receive fund from China. He added that the Government of China wanted to support the SGR at the later stage of the project and currently evaluating the project before it engages in further talks.

The government of Tanzania announces the construction of a major dam in Lumakali, Njombe District. Deputy Minister of Energy Mr Subira Mgalu declared the report and states that the authorities are currently involved in reviewing the feasibility study conducted in 1998. The construction of this 388.2m high dam and power centre will produce 222MW of electricity which will be distributed from Lumakali to Mbeya. Tanzania is set to sell 1 million tons of corn to neighboring Kenya to provide a helping hand to them from curbed production and caused prices of the grain to soar.

The well known Aim-listed Katoro Gold’s 75%-owned Haneti nickel project, in Tanzania, has acknowledged that there may be a large chonolith-type nickel sulphide deposit.
