Rwanda: Vision City Project Supported by Chinese Firm to Address Housing Challenges

Located on one of the hills at "The Land of a Thousand hills," the Vision City project is part of the Rwandan government's efforts to solve housing challenges in the capital city Kigali.

 
The first phase of the project, the biggest housing project in Rwanda, is consisted of 504 units of villas and apartments. According to the plan, after all the four phases are completed, the project will have the capacity to accommodate over 22,000 people.Read more »

Rwanda: Govt to Launch $250 Million Fund for Affordable Housing

A new affordable housing fund that could enable persons earning between Rwf300,000 and Rwf700,000 in monthly wages to buy a house is due to start in July, officials at the Ministry of Infrastructure (MININFRA) have said.

Urban road upgrading project kicks off in Rwanda

 Rwanda’s urban road upgrading project has commenced in the Kigali and is being undertaken by China Road and Bridge Cooperation (CRBC) and expected to improve the overall traffic situation in Kigali.

 
The road upgrading project is expected to be 54.56 kilometers where the investment is being done by China Export-Import Bank in form of preferential loan.

Tanzania: Spray Drones Providing Efficient Pesticide Dispersal

Guangzhou — Chinese firm Dajiang Innovation, popular known as DJI, recently launched its first agricultural aerial system, the Agras MG-1, operated as a drone, is now geared at providing cheaper crop spraying, also billed to become safer and more efficient. The company plans to supply the drone to local farmers to help ease their farm work, notably to minimize human labour and the cost of production.

Rwanda & Turkey Sign Cooperation Agreement on Agriculture

Rwanda and Turkey have signed an agreement of cooperation in the fields of agriculture and livestock, an official at the Rwandan embassy in Ankara, Turkey said.

 
The agreement was signed by Turkey's Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Faruk Celik, and Rwanda's Ambassador to Turkey, Amb. Williams Nkurunziza, at the closure of the Turkey-Africa Agriculture ministers' meeting in Antalya, last Friday.

Kenya: 310MW Lake Turkana Wind Farm Nearing Completion

Nairobi — The Lake Turkana Wind Power Project in Loiyangalani, Marsabit County is set to be completed in two months, paving the way for a 310MW injection in the grid.

 
The project will provide reliable, low-cost wind power to Kenya's national grid for 20 years through 365 wind turbines each with a capacity of 850 kW.

Rwanda: Construction of New Football Stadiums on Schedule - Officials

The pace of local football development is set to improve after district mayors and other stakeholders endorsed the proposed blueprint to construct more football stadiums in the country.

Two Kenyan Power Firms Receive $1.6 Million Obama Fund Grant to Boost Green Energy

Two Kenyan power companies have received a Sh164 million grant from former US President Barack Obama's Power Africa initiative to maximise generation of geothermal and solar electricity, known as green energy.

 
The US Trade and Development Agency, under the Power Africa initiative, on Thursday awarded $1.1 million (Sh113 million) to Nairobi-based Xago Africa and another $500,000 (Sh51 million) to the State-owned KenGen #ticker:KEGN.

Kenya, Ethiopia Among Top Countries in Wind Energy Investment

Tanzania: Ministry Unveils Massive Budget for Flagship Infrastructure Projects

Dodoma — The Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication has unveiled a massive 4.5trl/- budget, which among other things, will cover flagship infrastructure development in the 2017/2018 fiscal year.
