Tanzania lays out big investments in power generation

 A spate of recent agreements is expected to raise access to electricity to 75% of the population by 2035 as part of the government’s Power System Master Plan. According to official estimates, about 40% of the country’s 47m people had access to electricity in 2016.

Solar power dominates rural Tanzania, says report

 The report, released earlier this week by the National Bureau of Statistics and the Rural Energy Agency shows that grid electricity is the second largest source of power in rural areas with 34.5% of households connected, while solar is leading by nearly 65%.

Tanzania to benefit from AfDB renewable energy investment

 The African Development Bank (AfDB) has announced plans to invest $870,000 in Tanzania's Rural Energy Agency (REA) through its Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) trust fund.

 
ITWEB Africa reports that the money will be used to structure the Renewable Energy Investment Facility (REIF), to provide affordable finance to private sector clean energy projects involved in energy access to rural communities in Tanzania.

Aminex will go deeper to maximise potential at Ruvuma in Tanzania

Tanzania: Norway Gives TZ Sh22 Billion in Grants

 The Norwegian government has pledged to give Tanzania a grant of $10.5 million (Sh22.05 billion) aimed at boosting the country's domestic revenues in the next three years.

Tanzania: Norwegian Minister Counsels Tanzania

  Norwegian Foreign minister Borge Brende has said that it's still premature for Tanzania to celebrate its gas resource benefits despite the potentials available.

 
Mr Brende who ended his two-day visit in Tanzania at the weekend said completion of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) project is going to improve foreign direct investment (FDIs) to the country but he noted that this would take a lot of work and great effort.

Norway to give Tanzania $10.5m grant as budget support

 The government of Norway will give Tanzania a grant of $10.5 million as budget support to boost the countries revenue over the next three years.Norway Foreign Minister Borge Brende announced this on Saturday in Dar es Salaam, when he met with Tanzanian Finance and Planning Minister Philip Mpango.

 
Norway was impressed by President John Magufuli’s drive to end corruption and increase domestic revenues, Brende said.
