Tanzania: More Rural Areas to Access Power Than Urban Ones By 2020

 Handeni — Energy and Minerals Minister, Professor Sospeter Muhongo, has said Tanzania is going to book a place in modern African history within five years of the Fifth Phase Government, as more rural dwellers will be able to access electricity than their urban counterparts.

China seeks to strengthen trade ties with Kenya

 Chinese ambassador to Kenya Liu Xianfa wants Kenya to commit itself more to the current mutual co-operation between the two countries.

In a forum held in Mombasa last Friday dubbed 'China-Africa Media and Think-Tank Symposium', Mr Xianfa reminded the country that bilateral trade volume between Kenya and China has hit $6 billion (Sh600 billion). This is twice as much as that of 2013.

Kenya and Dutch working to strengthen use of health IT for better patient care

 The Cabinet Secretary for Health Dr. Cleopa Mailu today held bilateral talks with the Dutch Ambassador Fran’s Makken to cultivate the use of Health Information Technology tools to improve the quality and efficiency of the delivery of health care in the country.

Govt. launches committee to eliminate rabies by 2030

  A national committee to spearhead the elimination of mediated rabies in Kenya by the year 2030 has been launched.

The Director of Medical services, Dr. Jackson Kioko launched the 10 member National Rabies Elimination Coordination committee today to implement the National Rabies Elimination Strategy of 2014 to enable the country to eradicate rabies.

Tanzania, WB sign $200m electricity deal

 Tanzania. The government of Tanzania and the World Bank yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in which the latter will provide $209 million (about Tz Shs456 billion) for the implementation of six-year rural electrification expansion programme.

Crowdfunding is growing, and East Africa fast becoming hub for cash

East Africa is emerging as a hub for crowdfunding. The online platforms — which also offer grants, endowments, debt and equity — raised $37.2 million in 2015 in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.
