An Initial 150 MW of Solar Energy will be Added to the Grid by a Government Owned Solar Power Plant

Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) plans to launch a 50-megawatt solar power project in Ngunga village, Kishapu District, Shinyanga Region, this October.

 

The project will eventually contribute 150 megawatts (MW) to the National Grid and is Tanzania's first wholly government-owned solar plant.

Tanzania Secures USD 55.9M for 2025–2026 Health Basket Fund to Boost Health Systems and Primary Healthcare

In order to promote primary healthcare delivery and fortify health systems, Tanzania has obtained USD 55.9M (around TZS 161.3B) from development partners for the Health Basket Fund (HBF) for the fiscal year 2025–2026.

 

Comparing the amount to the USD 44.3M distributed in the 2022–2023 fiscal year, there is a 20% increase.

Rosatom Launches Uranium Processing Plant in Tanzania

Rosatom subsidiary Mantra Tanzania Ltd has commissioned a pilot uranium processing plant at the Mkuju River project in southern Tanzania. The facility, located at the Nyota deposit, will be used to test uranium processing technologies and provide input into the design of the main processing complex, which would have a production capacity of up to 3,000 tonnes of uranium per year.
