Tanzania s Off Grid Electric raises $16 million from SolarCity, Zouk Capital & Microsoft co-founder -

SolarCity invests in US$16 million fund for off-grid solar in Africa

  US installer SolarCity is among the investors in a US$16 million funding round closed this week by Off Grid Electric, a company offering pre-paid solar systems in Africa. ERHC retains Deloitte as strategic advisor on its assets in Sub-Saharan Africa

US$116m set aside for construction of two open markets in Kenya

ARM Cement to increase investments in East Africa

East African cement maker ARM Cement has announced an increase in investments across the region as the demand for cement continues to rise. A statement from the company revealed that ARM Cement will complete some pending projects this year, and begin new ones in 2015.   The company, which has plants in Kaloleni and Athi River in Kenya, as well as Dar es Salaam and Tanga in Tanzania, will complete one more grinding plant in Tanga in 2015. Kenyan government raises US$2 billion

Tanzania signs investment deals worth US$1.7bn with China
