City Lodge to construct a $23m 3-star hotel Nairobi, Kenya

City Lodge Hotel Group has made plans to set up a US $23m 3-star hotel in Kenya at the Runda Estate. Construction works are expected to start in January 2015 and is to be ready by October 2016.

Japanese Government to fund an irrigation scheme in Rwanda

The Governmnet of Rwanda has received a US$15m grant from the Japanese Government to fund an irrigation scheme in Ngoma District, Rwanda, which will be implemented by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Construction of the Standard Gauge Railway in Kenya

87 construction teams have arrived in Kenya from China to ensure the construction of the Standard Gauge railway in Kenya begins September this year. Also included from the China is 2000 pieces of equipment in readiness of the start of the project.

Alten to develop 40MW solar plant in Kenya

Alten Kenya Solarfarms is expected to set up a 40MW solar plant in Kesses, Uasin Gishu county Kenya.

The solar plant will be located on a 371 acre piece of land in Kesses near Moi University, Eldoret. The project is expected to cost around US$10m for infrastructure development alone. The project is expected to be ready in 10 to 14 months once the power purchase agreement (PPA) has been signed between Alten Kenya Solarfarms and Kenya Power.
