Zimbabwe to Amend Colonia Era Mining Law in Order to Attract New Investors

THE government said Monday that amending the country's mining law has become urgent to bring new changes that will go a long way in addressing the shortcomings of the outdated legislation.

AFRICA's largest copper producer, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has reportedly suspended consideration for a new mining tax law until the prices of the metal improve.

Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company has commenced operations with over 100 000 carats having been mined two months after operations started. Triton Minerals to Develop Graphite Mine in Mozambique

The Australian mining company Triton Minerals, which holds the rights to graphite and vanadium deposits in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, announced on 1 March that it is to focus on developing its graphite deposits at Ancuabe.

The local mining sector’s attractiveness has slightly improved, according to the latest survey by Canadian think-tank Fraser Institute.
The Fraser Institute 2015 survey has ranked Kenya 103 out of 109 jurisdictions that were covered. It was ranked 121 out of 122 in the 2014 report due to insecurity and ‘poor’ mining polici. . .Please Select an Option
