  • Kenya receives Shs2.5 billion grant to improve healthcare

     Kenya has received a Sh2.5 billion grant from the World Bank to improve on healthcare service provision. 

    Health Cabinet Secretary Dr Cleopa Mailu said the grant will be used to broaden the country's capacity to improve maternal and child health interventions and quality of care at primary health facilities.

  • Kenya plays the lead role to introduce the first child-friendly TB medicines in the world

     Kenya is the first country in the world to adopt the nationwide use of the child-friendly TB medicines.

    The Director of Medical Services, Dr. Jackson Kioko said from October 1st, 2016 all children diagnosed with tuberculosis will be treated using the improved child-friendly medicines free of charge at all public facilities.

  • Turkey donates health equipment to Kiambu hospital

     The Turkish government yesterday donated Sh3.5 million health equipment to Kiambu Level-4 Hospital. Turkish ambassador to Kenya Deniz Eke presented the paediatric medical equipment.

     
    He said Turkey is working with hospitals and health institution to improve their conditions. Eke said they also provide scholarships for Kenyans every year.

     Health Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Cleopa Mailu held a meeting with ZipLine Logistics Company to explore possibilities of using drones to deliver medical products in the case of emergencies.

    During the meeting the CS cited the need for multi-agency involvement bringing on board the Ministries of Interior and Security, State Law Office, Transport, Health and KEMSA.

  • Govt. establishes clusters to strengthen human resource for health in counties

     The Human Resource for Health Interagency Coordinating Committee (HRH-ICC) has established nine county clusters to address the human capital challenges in the country.

    More than 12,500 Health workers have been recruited by the county governments 26% of the overall target of 48,000 and 4,048 Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWS) to strengthen the county health services.
