Tanzania: Renewable Energy, Water and Transport to Get Sh240 Billion French Aid

Dar es Salaam — The French Development Agency AFD will inject over Sh240 billion into renewable energy, water and transport projects in Tanzania.

 
AFD Representative in Tanzania Emmanuel Baudra, told reporters in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the latest development plans are in line with the French President's commitment to increase support by a 50 per cent by 2020.
 
The AFD Board in Tanzania has already approved more than Sh187billion to finance public and private stakeholders with a major aim of supporting the expansion of the Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) Terminal-2 and grants to French NGOs operating in the country.
 
One of the French NGOs operating in Tanzania and four other countries is Medicin du Monde which provides drugs users with access to Hepatitis C diagnosis and prevention in Temeke District.
 
AFD provides support in socio-economic development in Tanzania mainly through concessional loans to the government.
