Tanzania: Pemba Airport Up for Upgrading

A FEW days after laying foundation stone for the modern terminal building at the Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (AAKIA) on Unguja Island, President Ali Mohamed Shein has promised to upgrade the current small airport in Pemba to international level.

Tanzania on Saturday officially inaugurated a 535-kilometer China funded gas pipeline, reported Xinhua.
The pipeline built with a $1.33-billion concessional loan from the Export-Import Bank of China transports natural gas from Tanzania's southern region of Mtwara to Dar es Salaam. The construction of new terminal at Kotoka International Airport in Ghana has received a major boost after the African Development Bank (AfDB) announced that it had approved a $120 million corporate loan to finance Ghana Airports Company Limited’s (GACL) capital investment programme.

Tender for the 3 MW in-pipe hydropower scheme in South Africa is set to be issued by Johannesburg city, Johannesburg Executive mayor Parks Tau who first mooted the scheme has announced.

A recently introduced Smart City solution has enabled the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) to develop a complete view of the city’s roads inventory, with over 1.6-million images and 700 000 locations of JRA assets being captured onto the system for tracking, monitoring and management.
