Ethiopia: ERA Plans to Construct and Maintain 23,000 Kilometers of Road

Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) aims to construct as well as maintain around 23,000 kilometers of road across Ethiopia during the just started fiscal year.
Commenting the plan Dereje Hailu, Communication Team Leader at ERA, said the Authority aims to upgrade and build new roads that stretch for 1,846 kilometers. Regarding maintenance, the Authority would maintain 21,290 kilometers of road, he furthered.
The current fiscal year would see 10 main road upgrading projects which are expected to connect Addis Ababa with the main roads, Dereje explained. On the other hand 8 projects focused on maintaining and upgrading roads that connect regional cities would be undertaken, he furthered.
According to Communication Team Leader a total of 46 billion Birr has been allocated for the Authority to accomplish the plans as per the schedule set.
The just concluded fiscal year saw the Authority performing 93 percent of the target set.
