     The construction of  what is expected be the world’s biggest concentrated solar power plant in Morocco is ongoing. According to the World Bank, when complete the concentrated solar power plant in Morocco will supply electricity to 1.1 million Moroccans by 2018.

  • Newly constructed 55MW solar power project in Tanzania

    The newly constructed 55MW solar power project in Tanzania has been commissioned. The project was launched at University of Dodoma (UDOM) in Tanzania with an in tension of making the institution  one of Africa’s leading universities using renewable energy.

  • Norwegian firm Scatec begins plans to construct solar plants in Africa

     Norwegian firm Scatec has begun plans to construct 250MW capacity solar plants in Egypt aimed at boosting electricity production in the country.

     
    The mega construction project is being carried out at two sites in Benban and Zafarana in Egypt as the first steps to the development of solar plants in the country.

  • Kenya: Planned Solar Plants to Yield 80 Megawatts

    Construction of two solar power plants with a combined capacity of 80 megawatts is planned to start at the end of this year, according to Mr Joseph Njoroge, principal secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.

     
    The two proposed projects -- Solienke and Cedata -- will be based in Eldoret, each with an output of 40 megawatts.

  • Dodoma University to generate solar energy

    President Jakaya Kikwete officially launched a project that will position the University of Dodoma (UDOM) as one of Africa’s leading colleges in renewable energy and sustainability.

     
    The centerpiece of the project will be construction of the largest solar farm ever built on college campus anywhere in the world, totaling 55MW of solar generation. . .
