  • Construction of the Kenya-Ethiopia converter substation to commence

    Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) has announced that the construction of US$ 230m high voltage direct current Kenya-Ethiopia converter substation is now set to begin.

    A US$ 230m contract between KETRACO and a consortium of Siemens AG and Isolux Inginieria for the construction of the sub-station has already been signed.

  • Kenya: NCA Sets Up Eleven Offices in Counties

    The National Construction Authority has established 11 satellite offices countrywide to effectively deliver services.

     
    NCA executive director Daniel Manduku said the regional offices will ease pressure in the Nairobi office.
     
    The new offices are in Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, Eldoret, Kitui, Nyeri, Isiolo, Garissa, Kakamega and Kisii counti. . .

  • Africa: Chinese Company Launches Joint Cement Venture With Local Company

     The Chinese company, Asian and African Business Management, has teamed up with a Namibian company, Whale Rock Cement, to set up a 350 million U.S. dollar cement plant.

     
    A memorandum of understanding was signed in Windhoek Thursday between the two companies to kick start the project that will see the creation of 400 jobs.

    The Dar Misr housing construction project in Egypt is on the right track and that 31% of the first phase has been completed, project supervisor Mohamed Nabih has confirmed. The first phase has a total of 13,269 units in New Cairo and 5,712 units in New Damietta

    The tender winner of US $2 billion construction project of major highways in Zimbabwe will be known soon. Three finalists for the dualisation of Beitbridge-Harare and Harare-Chirundu highways have been submitted to the Vice President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa for consideration before the final winner is chosen.
