ERC rejects Kenya Power bid for Sh2.6bn tariff rise

The energy sector regulator has shot down a Kenya Power application for electricity tariff increase that would have seen consumers’ bills increase by Sh2.6 billion every month.

In Kenya, efforts to produce wind power on a grand scale are underway. The Lake Turkana Wind Power project is a 12-hour drive from Nairobi and, once operational, is set to provide 310 megawatts (MW) of renewable power to the Kenyan national grid.

Nairobi — The Lake Turkana Wind Power Project in Loiyangalani, Marsabit County is set to be completed in two months, paving the way for a 310MW injection in the grid.
